Vilaseco, in collaboration with Manchea, is researching the use of flax in the production of paper.

Cultivation: Flax field work

Based on the testimonies of the neighbours and the previous research carried out by the archaeologist Manuel Rodríguez Calviño, we have carried out a traditional flax cultivation, recovering the memory of the rural women in the production of a sustainable and local product.

Research: Research prior to growing flax

The production of cloth in Galicia was of great importance at different times in our history, reaching its peak in the 17th and 18th centuries, although the artisanal and domestic production of cloth continued until well into the 20th century.

Cultivation: Research, experimental and collective planting, flax utilisation

Vilaseco wants to learn the techniques of traditional crops, recovering the knowledge of rural women to use the resources of the land in a sustainable way.

Snapshots de Chantada, group exhibition. Result of the 12Miradas workshop with the artist Irene Kopelman and in collaboration with the MUV FMJJ (Museo Virtual María José Jove).
