In the workshop, the students and ELIURPI created contemporary objects with elements from the Ribeira Sacra and Chantada, using ancestral techniques brought to each participant's style. They shared different ways of thinking, working, and creating, from the same space, region and materials.
Eliurpi
Designer Elisabet Urpí and photographer Nacho Umpiérrez share a professional and personal way of working and living. Since 2010 they have been presenting their creations in the form of objects, fashion and hats under the ELIURPI brand. With a very defined aesthetic and in line with their values, they create unique pieces that are closer to art than to the object itself, always versatile.
They have held several exhibitions, including: collection exhibition at Premier Classe in Paris, 2015; solo exhibition Del arte al objeto y del objeto al arte at ART U READY in Madrid, during the week of ARCO Madrid 2022; and solo exhibition Retratos circulares at the contemporary art platform ART U READY in Madrid, during the week of ARCO Madrid 2023.
They participated in the Biennial of Contemporary Crafts Visions of Catalonia: Designing Crafts, held in Barcelona in June 2023, and in the Cheongju Craft Biennial in South Korea, with seven works in the Spanish Pavilion of the Biennial in September 2023. ELIURPI values craftsmanship and advocates the use of natural materials in the design of its limited edition handmade garments and objects. Useful art that finds a form of artistic expression in hats. Their work is recognised nationally and internationally, appearing in editorials in magazines such as AD, VOGUE, BAZAAR, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, and in 2022 they were selected by the Ministry of Culture for the Guide to Spanish Crafts and Art 2022.
