The first day of the workshop took place in the village of San Cristovo de Mouricios (Chantada, Lugo) at Espacio Vilaseco. The day was dedicated to introducing the participants and the workshop’s methodology. On the second day, the participants went to Olga Novo's family home in Vilarmao (A Pobra do Brollón, Lugo), from where they followed a route guided by the poet.
The workshop revolved around the appearance of poetry as a revelatory moment, and the results were presented in a public recital in May, in collaboration with Normal, a cultural intervention space at the Universidade de A Coruña.
Olga Novo
Olga Novo was born in 1975 in the village of Vilarmao (A Pobra do Brollón, Lugo). She is a farmer's daughter, poet, essayist, translator and literary critic in Galician. She has a doctorate in Galician Philology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a doctorate in Hispanic Studies from the University of Rennes2 (Haute Bretagne). She is a teacher of Galician in secondary education and also taught at the Breton Universities of Rennes and Lorient between 2004 and 2011.
As a literary scholar, she has published Por un vocabulario do sexo. A terminoloxía erótica de Claudio Rodríguez Fer (1995), O lume vital de Claudio Rodríguez Fer (1999, reed. 2008), Uxío Novoneyra. Lingua loaira (2005, Ánxel Fole Prize) and Leda m'and'eu. Erótica medieval galaica (Galician and Portuguese Medieval History Prize, 2011). She is also a member of the editorial staff of several literary magazines and has participated in numerous conferences, symposia and seminars on literary topics related to eroticism, feminism, the avant-garde, Celticism and anarchism. His doctoral thesis, O soño dunha Armórica galaica, is a comprehensive study of the links between Galician literature and the cultural world of the Celtic countries, especially Breton.
As a translator, she is the author of Vidas imaginarias, the Spanish version of Marcel Schwob's Vies imaginaires (2009), and Él contradiscurso de las mujeres. Historia del feminismo, a translation into Spanish of Carmen Blanco's work in Galician (1997). She translated the first volume of Stendhal's Diary from French into Galician (2012).
As a poet, in addition to contributing to numerous magazines, anthologies and collective works, she has published A teta sobre o sol (1996), Nós nus (Losada Diéguez Creation Prize, 1997), A cousa vermella (2004) and Cráter (Spanish Critics' Prize, 2011). In collaboration with Alexandra Domínguez and Xoán Abeleira, he published the artist's book Magnalia (2001). Los líquidos íntimos, a bilingual Galician-Spanish collection of poems, was published by Cálamo in 2012. Some of his texts have been set to music, and some of his poems have been translated into Breton, French, English and Italian.
His most recent poetry collection is Feliz Idade (2019), for which he received the V Gala del Libro Gallego, the Spanish Critics' Prize, the Galician Critics' Prize and the National Poetry Prize. His work has been translated into Spanish and Catalan.
She is currently publishing a series of prose memoirs entitled "El bosque de los cromosomas" in the magazine Luzes.
She was awarded the Medalla Honorífica de España Creativa in 2022.
