BIO*CERAMICS: Narratives of the Landscape and its Culture was an experimental workshop, an invitation to explore the intersection between the rural environment, sustainable environmental perspectives, the social fabric and local culture, with the aim of building a bridge between the past and the future through creativity and innovation.

In July 2023, ELIURPI gave a workshop on the idea of creating a contemporary object with elements from the Ribeira Sacra and Chantada environment, using ancestral techniques that were incorporated into each participant's way of working.

Ignasi Aballí proposed, in this workshop, to reflect on the space necessary to generate thought, ideas and reflections, trying to answer the questions: what space do we need? And how much space do we need?

What can we take back from the environment? What has changed? How do we recognise it? How does what surrounds us affect us and condition us when it comes to designing or conceiving objects? What new narrative can we give to the inhabitants who decide to recover the rural environment?

"The processes were interesting, each of us found new ways of solving problems, related to our work, but at the same time opening up new possibilities within the practices. From this came the idea to give continuity to the processes, to see where they would lead each of us, and then to meet again in Chantada to share the results and to open the dialogue to the community. The workshop revolved around the appearance of poetry as a revelatory moment, and the results were presented in a public recital in May, in collaboration with Normal, a cultural intervention space at the Universidade de A Coruña.
